Innovative in-house laboratory services and diagnostics for comprehensive services
We understand the importance of a reliable diagnosis. Capability in this area is key to ensuring that your pet receives the most effective medical treatment possible. That’s why we keep many options on hand to evaluate each case, using state of the art equipment and our own in-house laboratory.
Complete lab diagnostics for your pet
Our in-hospital testing lab gives us the ability to run diagnostic tests and blood work right here, without having to refer elsewhere in most cases. We are capable of detecting a wide range of pathogens and abnormalities that can cause problems for your animal friend. Tests include:
- Urinalysis
- Fecal Exam
- Diabetes and blood sugar monitoring
- Heartworm evaluation
- Feline leukemia and FIV
- Cytology services
- Skin testing
- In house blood work
- Reproductive evaluation
Should your pet require a test that is unavailable at our facility, we have the ability to send samples to an outside lab for specialty testing. Samples sent out for testing return results to us within 12-48 hours.
Digital Radiography
In addition to comprehensive testing services, we also provide our patients with fast and effective digital radiographs (x-rays). This technology is greatly beneficial when treating internal cases, producing high quality images in an instant. This means less waiting around for an image to develop, and more time spent caring for your pet when they need us most.
An added bonus, digital radiographs make it possible for us to simply hand you a CD with your pet’s images — something we do for every client. This is great for specialist referrals and much easier for recordkeeping purposes than film – it can also be a lot of fun if you want to show off your pet’s radiograph to some friends!
CT (Computed Tomography) Scan
We have the ability to perform CT scans. Just like humans, animals need CT scans in certain scenarios to give our doctors a better insight to what may be going on. This is a powerful tool that veterinarians can use to help diagnose and treat conditions in dogs and cats with great precision. CT scans create detailed cross-sectional images of the animal’s body which can include the skull, thorax (chest), abdomen, limbs, and joints.
This can be useful when assessing a variety of conditions in pets, including tumors, internal injuries, bone fractures, and diseases affecting internal organs. After a scan is complete, the images generated are combined to create a 3D image.
Ultrasound Scan
Another tool our veterinarians use are ultrasounds. Ultrasounds are used to examine internal organs, diagnose conditions, and if needed, guide biopsies. Ultrasounds use a technique that uses sound waves to produce images of soft tissues that do not show up well on radiographs within the animal’s body. They also can help identify issues such as tumors, cysts, fluid accumulation and organ abnormalities.
