- Island Pets - for nearly 20 years, a small rescue organization has saved and cared for the lost and abused pets in the Carribean Islands. Dr Price and an animal care technician would fly to the islands once a year to assist with medical care and to perform spays and neuters in an effort to control the population. They would also assist in caring for the local herds of wild horses and donkeys on the islands. This was a rewarding and remarkable experience for all of us. Unfortunately, last year the shelter was forced to disband. With the assistance of many voluteers, as many animals as possible were relocated to the US to continue to be cared for and find new homes. Many have been adopted, however, many more are still needing homes. Many of their stories are heartbreaking, but not nearly as much as if the love and care had never been there to assist them in the first place.
